The Glorious Ray Fenwick just finished his artist-in-residence at Pantry Press, a cool letterpress shop in Toronto. While there, he cranked out a few amazing designs and they're all deliciously letter-pressy... what could be yummier? I love these coasters, but you should also check out the card set. Dang!!

Then, a funny thing happened. All of a sudden, a ton of email that had been stuck in the system somehow came through all at once.

I told you recently about bee listy's etsy shop -- well, I had her do this custom portrait of my brother for the holidays and, MAN. I wish you could see it in person, it's really just... astonishing. It's done on 28? 22? fabric -- I think she had to use a microscope! What a very excellent gift for the holidays. I'm almost speechless. Oh, she has patterns in her shop now, too, in case you're brave enough to DIY. They don't make glasses strong enough for me to try it! hee.

Ann Coulter greeted by Subversive

Okay, I so did not do this, but I have to commend the person who did on their taste in cards! Seems that some truly subversive and possibly off-balance soul hand-delivered a card to Ms. Coulter's mailbox in Florida and, according to police reports obtained by The Smoking Gun, the card they chose to express themselves with was our very own "Go Fuck Yourself" card from the set by Chronicle!

I don't really see what the fuss is all about, since this very phrase has been bandied about on numerous occasions by our very own Vice President Cheney (even at work, which most of us would get in trouble for), and it would seem that someone as allegedly vitriolic at Ms. Coulter should be able to take just a fraction of the stuff she dishes out.

Now, I certainly don't advocate stalking - in fact, I think the best thing to do with people like this is to ignore them. But if you just can't do that, I happen to know where you can get a card that might help express your frustration and discontent. You'll have to find Ms. Coulter's mailing address on your own, though, and might I suggest the US Mail instead of hand delivery?

Remember: just because we are blessed with the freedom of speech doesn't mean you have to shout.

Etsy seller bee listy stitches and sells amazing portraits, like this David Sedaris one. Let me tell you, if you don't already know, that is some SERIOUS work! And very well done. And also very reasonably priced. There's also Elvis Costello, Toni Morrison, and she does custom work! What an amazing holiday gift idea... hmm...

There are days where I manage to make it to the end without buying a bunch of stuff on the web. And just when I'm feeling the slightest bit smug about my triumphant self-control, I get this super-incredible daily newsletter from Rare Bird Finds.

Somedays, and I've told them this, when I'm feeling particularly like I've passed as a somewhat sane, responsible adult, I actually curse outloud when their enews hits my Inbox. Because in ~~almost~~ every issue, there is something that I HAVE to buy. I don't know how they do it, and I don't know why they torture me so, but they absolutely have their finger on the pulse of just-what-it-is-that-I-want.

Examples? Hella-groovy CD packaging kits from Chronicle, the fabulous Still Life Fruit Bowl, and the mixed drinks cube jigger (coming soon to a holiday tree near my crazy cocktail-shakin' husband).
