Darling Julie,

Exciting news, new mag, new pattern (kinda) and lots of valentine ideas whether you're in love or just plain disgusted with the whole mess. Read on, and remember, Subversive Cross Stitch loves you!
xoxo,
julie

Subversive + Altoids + Bust = Love!

I was invited to do an event in NYC to help launch the new chocolate-covered Altoids (we're both curiously strong brands, get it?). But I'm a wuss, so I'm sending kits in my place, but guess who WILL be there, live and in person? Debbie Stoller! Queen of Stitch 'n Bitch and editor of Bust (she's much better at these things!) So it'll be a Bust + Altoids evening, and they'll be bustin' out the cross stitch, too! All that plus free cupcakes (gosh!)

Want more info? Wanna go?

I've had the blues, the reds and the pinks, but one thing's for sure...

The "Love Stinks" pattern is new to the site, though it IS in the book. But if you don't have the book, or if you want a kit ready to go... now's your chance! Plus, I have some great new valentine swag which I'll send out with early February orders. If you'd rather stitch this up on a crochet-edged doily, let me know and I'll throw one in for free since you're a loyal subscriber!

Hit me!

LAB magazine

If you love magazines like I do, then you'll really dig this one, created by some dear friends in Portland. It covers so many things, from photographers to crafty peeps including Leah Kramer of Craftster, Susan of PDX Crafty and a cartoon from my favorite illustrator, Matt Hinrichs! Plus zefrank, Derek Powazek and the creator of Get Your War On. For now, the print version is only available through lulu, but you can browse and read it online as well!

Check it out!

Nikol's Naughty Needles

Crafty Query's been staying out too late, so his February interview is not QUITE here yet... but any minute now, we'll be featuring Nikol Lohr. In the meantime, check the page for details. Nikol, if you don't already know, is fabulously talented and everywhere at once. She's not only the force behind the long-running blog-before-there-were-blogs disgruntledhousewife.com, but she'll soon have a swell profile in Readymade magazine! ooh-la-la!

Oh, and she has a great new book, too!
p.s.
Okay, I still haven't finished redoing the Links page, but here are some tasty morsels to snack on: aquarabbit is the site of brilliant artist Dana Robson - if you're in San Francisco, she has a show opening tonight. Also, I revisited an old favorite, The Small Object and found that there are many more fun things to buy, including a really neat-o needle keeper. Lastly but not leastly, don't forget the Craft magazine blog, where Nat Zee posts all kinds of stuff you should know about, several times daily. Sweet! Oh, and stop by hi monkey for lessons on how to cook all kinds of valentine goodies - from a monkey. Who knew?

I'm working on the Links page, Press updates and the Customer Gallery... bear with me!
