Hey,
"Truthiness" was mentioned in this
article in New York magazine:
At
about 3:30 on the day of the first taping, during a rehearsal,
Colbert stopped and beckoned to his writers. He'd decided they
needed a better word. "It's not stupid enough," he said. "We're
not talking about truth, we're talking about something that
seems like truth--the truth we want to exist." Then he had an
idea: "Truthiness." He now displays, on a bookshelf in his office,
a sampler embroidered with TRUTHINESS
inside a gold frame.
And
while that's super-exciting, you must know that the above photo
is TOTALLY Photoshopped! I sent it out with my enewsletter and
it seems like people think it's real! Oh no. I thought I had
made it pretty obvious, with my very limited Photoshop skills
-- I mean, he can't hold that up with his finger. Anyway, it's
not real!! (Though the mention in the article is completely
real, and very exciting!) And, of course, Stephen himself is
VERY real! ;) In fact, the Photoshopped photo is the very embodiment
of truthiness, if you think about it! Ha!

"either the vast majority of you out there in the Merriam-Webster

or Time Magazine was right on target when it honored
the show's host Stephen Colbert earlier this year as one of
the most influential people of 2006. By an overwhelming 5 to
1 majority vote, our visitors have awarded top honors to TRUTHINESS."
GO, STEPHEN!!
